About the Orbcomm Satellite Network
ORBCOMM (www.orbcomm.com)
operates the only global commercial wireless messaging system
optimized for narrowband communications. The system consists
of a global network of 29 low-Earth orbit, or LEO, satellites
and accompanying ground infrastructure. The company’s
two-way communications system enables customers and end-users,
including large and established multinational businesses
and government agencies, to track, monitor, control and
communicate cost-effectively with fixed and mobile assets
located anywhere in the world.
The Orbcomm system boasts near real-time data transfer in
Australia and New Zealand. Approximately 50% of messages
are delivered in under 2 minutes to both countries. In NSW,
VIC, SA and TAS, approximately 90% of messages are delivered
within 6 minutes, and approximately 98% of messages are
delivered within 9 minutes.

Back to Base Security
With the mi-Trek system you can have a Back to Base alarm
system for your Caravan or Motorhome. The mi-Trek GPS system
can be linked to:
•
Door switch:
detect unauthorised entry to your caravan or motorhome -
be alerted by SMS text message or email (can be sent to
multiple recipients).
•
Duress button/pendant/wristband:
mi-Trek recommends the Inovonics range of Duress pendants
and wristbands. The system can also be linked to a standard
in-vehicle panic button.
•
Smoke Detector
mi-Trek recommends the Innovonics wireless smoke detector
for caravans and motorhomes. Be alerted when your smoke
alarm activates - alerts are sent by SMS text message or
email (can
be sent to multiple recipients).
•
Road Accident detection
The
mi-Trek system can also be linked to an Accelerometer -
detect whether a road accident has occurred.
Again, alerts
are sent by SMS text message or email (can
be sent to multiple recipients).

Siren or Flashing Light
The mi-Trek unit can also activate an in-vehicle
siren or flashing light if an alarm (door switch, duress,
smoke detector, etc.) occurs.
Vehicle Position Update on demand
The package includes a Poll ("get position now")
feature. Using your mobile phone you can manually request
the location of your vehicle using a standard text message.
The result of your Poll is available on the mi-Trek website
(no additional software required), approx 1-2 minutes later.
On
demand, determine the location and view your vehicles on
the map, together with speed, heading, closest road, closest
suburb/town, co-ordinates and a link to Google Maps for
additional mapping and satellite photographs of the location.
Periodic Vehicle Position
Update
The tracking unit can be configured to automatically update
the vehicle position on a prescribed interval eg. hourly,
daily or weekly.
Emergency Duress Button or
Pendant
An Emergency Duress Button or Pendant can be installed in
your vehicle - when activated, a message is sent from the
tracking unit to the mi-Trek Basestation – alerts
are then sent to you (as many recipients as you like) by
email or SMS Text Message.
Respond quickly to emergency situations. Take quick, immediate
and responsive action if your driver is involved an emergency
situation.

Mi-Trek has several choices for tracking and security systems
for Caravans and Motorhomes, depending on the coverage you
require (Telstra GSM mobile network coverage, Telstra NextG
mobile network coverage, or Nationwide Orbcomm Satellite
Network Coverage), or the number of position updates you
need (eg. just on demand, weekly, daily or even hourly updates
are possible).
