Mi-Trek Orbcomm Tracking System
 |
**
Coming Soon: Available in August 2008 ** |
Vehicle
tracking in remote areas of Australia will soon be available
via the mi-Trek satellite communication option – Development
is due for completion in June 2008.
Mi-Trek
has two satellite products:
•
Hybrid Real Time/Satellite solution using
an add-on unit provides users with the ability to both track
vehicles in real time when covered by the GSM (mobile phone)
network, but ALSO to locate vehicles operating in areas
not normally covered the GSM (mobile phone) network using
the satellite module.
•
Satellite Tracking only solution using
an integrated Orbcomm GPS/Satellite communication unit to
transmit vehicle locations by satellite – no add-on
unit required.

Emergency Duress Pendant and Receiver
An
emergency receiver installed in the vehicle, and duress
pendant, can be linked directly to the mi-Trek tracking
unit through an input switch.
The
driver wears the duress pendant and if activated the tracking
unit will receive the alarm through the receiver box and
transmit the alarm back to mi-Trek server. Pendants can
be worn on a necklace, belt clip, wristband, or mounted
in a fixed position within the vehicle.
Please
note: The GPS vehicle tracking unit must be in
a mobile phone coverage area for the duress pendant to work
effectively. Alternatively, our satellite modem (Available
in June 2008) add-on option can allow the duress pendant
to work effectively in areas without mobile phone coverage.
The
manufacturer states the pendant can operate within a 750-metre
range of the receiver unit for a security alert to be activated
(without obstruction). This range is reduced by factors
such as terrain, trees, buildings or other obstructions
between the receiver unit and the pendant.
We
recommend a duress pendant with two buttons to reduce the
likelihood of false alarms since both buttons need to be
pressed simultaneously for alarm activation.
In
Australia the duress pendants use the 915 - 928 MHz band.
