About the Orbcomm Satellite Network
ORBCOMM (www.orbcomm.com) operates the only global commercial wireless messaging system optimized for narrowband communications. The system consists of a global network of 29 low-Earth orbit, or LEO, satellites and accompanying ground infrastructure. The company’s two-way communications system enables customers and end-users, including large and established multinational businesses and government agencies, to track, monitor, control and communicate cost-effectively with fixed and mobile assets located anywhere in the world.
The Orbcomm system boasts near real-time data transfer in Australia and New Zealand. Approximately 50% of messages are delivered in under 2 minutes to both countries. In NSW, VIC, SA and TAS, approximately 90% of messages are delivered within 6 minutes, and approximately 98% of messages are delivered within 9 minutes.

Hybrid Real Time/Satellite solution
In Telstra GSM Coverage:
When vehicles operate inside GSM coverage range, users will receive functionality according to the mi-Trek Plan selected:
• Mi-Trek Basic Alarm & Poll: provides simple vehicle position update on demand and periodic updates.
• Mi-Trek Basic Real-Time: provides automatic updates as vehicle moves plus updates for all vehicle stops, starts, engine on and engine off events.
• Mi-Trek Fleet Supervisor: provides more frequent automatic updates as vehicle moves plus updates for all vehicle stops, starts, engine on and engine off events. Data is also available for running reports, tracing routes taken and fleet overview.
• Mi-Trek Fleet Manager: provides frequent automatic updates as vehicle moves plus updates for all vehicle stops, starts, engine on and engine off events. Data is also available for running reports, tracing routes taken and fleet overview. Additional features are available such as overspeed and location alerts, data export and filtering functions.
Out of Telstra GSM Coverage:
When vehicles operate outside GSM coverage range, users can:
• Manually request a vehicle’s position.
• Receive periodic vehicle position update. For example, this can be configured to Hourly, Daily, Weekly updates.
If the GSM network is not available, the position request is sent to the unit via the Orbcomm Satellite network. GPS coordinates are sent back to the server either as a result of the position request or a periodic vehicle position update, and the vehicle’s position is updated on the map on the mi-Trek website.
In alarm situations, in areas with no GSM coverage, such as duress emergency or from any other connected input, a message can be sent via the satellite modem to the mi-Trek server for immediate processing.
An alarm alert is then forwarded as an SMS message to one or multiple mobile phones or as an email. The position is updated on the maps and an Alert flag is raised; visible on both the “Vehicle List” page and the “Vehicle Details” map screen for the vehicle (depending on the mi-Trek Tracking Plan you have selected)

Emergency Duress Pendant/Wristband

An Emergency Duress Button or Pendant can be installed in your vehicle - when activated, a message is sent from the tracking unit to the mi-Trek Basestation – alerts are then sent to you (as many recipients as you like) by email or SMS Text Message.
Respond quickly to emergency situations. Take quick, immediate and responsive action if your driver is involved an emergency situation.

Mi-Trek has several choices for tracking and security systems for Caravans and Motorhomes, depending on the coverage you require (Telstra GSM mobile network coverage, Telstra NextG mobile network coverage, or Nationwide Orbcomm Satellite Network Coverage), or the number of position updates you need (eg. just on demand, weekly, daily or even hourly updates are possible).
